The Ask
The ask for this project was to create an editable Teams background for Astellas Pharma Inc's Communities of Practice division to be used during their Teams meetings. This project included the creation of an icon, a wordmark, and a base background. Astellas was in the middle of a transfer from one branding style to another for this division, so the beginning iterations featured more red, gold, and hexagons. I began by creating the icons and wordmarks from sketches and adding them to the Teams background designs. After receiving feedback from the client, I took elements that they liked and developed them into the final deliverables you see here. They wanted to focus on connection and shared interests, which were the main tenets of this division of their organization. My designs kept aspects of their branding that were key to communicating effectively, while also bringing in things that tied into their work, like the molecular design of the icon.
