The Ask
In my Ceramics I class we were tasked with slab building a sculpture that depicted a narrative on it. I chose to build a vase and paint the Hungarian creation myth Fehérlófia on its sides.
The Design Process
I first sketched what I wanted the vase to look like then brought my designs to critique. I received feedback and then made a paper model of the vase to use for proportions. After this I sketched the designs I wanted to paint on the sides and chose the slip colors I wanted to use. After developing the designs I built the vase and smoothed it down. Once it was at the right moisture content I painted my designs on the sides and let it dry.
